Are We Humans Prepared For the Fifth Industrial Revolution?

In the heart of the maelstrom called the 21st century, tectonic shifts are redefining the contours of our collective intelligence. The age to come - the Fifth Industrial Revolution is knocking at our door, bringing profound change, excitement, and certain uncertainty. In my book "INTELLIGENCE - The Fifth Industrial Revolution", I dissect the convergence of Artificial, Emotional, Independent, and Organisational intelligence. Together, they script the narrative of our future.

Consider the words of Stephen Hawking, who said,

"Success in creating AI would be the biggest event in human history."

I explore these profound thoughts in my book, drawing parallels between the revolutionary paths carved by AI and the likes of the steam engine. The lessons learnt help anticipate the challenging demands of the rapidly-transforming world around us.

Viktor E. Frankl once opined,

"Between stimulus and response, there is a space. In that space is our power to choose our response."

This space Frankl speaks of, holds our Emotional Intelligence, a critical asset in the digital age. It's this empathetic depth that we'll unchain in response to our increasingly AI-driven world.

Delving into the realm of Independent Intelligence, I reflect upon the wisdom of Fyodor Dostoevsky, who stated,

"To go wrong in one's own way is better than to go right in someone else's."

The ability to adapt, learn, and evolve in accord with our rhythm is a beacon for embracing self-transformation. In a future poised with uncertainty, this will be our guiding star.

To conclude on the note of Organisational Intelligence, let’s heed to Gary Hamel's words,

"To create an organisation that's adaptable and innovative, people need the freedom to challenge precedent, to 'waste' time, to go outside of channels, to experiment, to take risks and to follow their passions."

My projection of the Fifth Industrial Revolution envisions a culture entirely in consonance with Hamel’s view—a corporate atmosphere of innovation, adaptability, and unimpeded collaboration. The 5th revolution will be built on the shoulders of the other 4 - but it will be completely different.
